Question:Has anyone ever had bone scan for a running related matter? I went to the
doctor today (to get my foot checked out) and he told me the best
thing would be to get a bone scan to determine if my injury was a
stress fracture or mortons neuroma.
This is my first 'serious' running injury and I'm a little concerned
as to what the results will be, I hope it's nothing more serious then
2-3 weeks of rest wont cure.
Answer:I've had at least 8 bone scans, two in the last few months. If you have
health insurance, definitely get the bone scan. My recent bone scans
were three-phase scans. It's a really simple process. They first scan
you, and then they inject the radioactive stuff into your arm. Then you
come back, after about 3 hours and they view the body again. During the
3 hour wait, you have to drink a bunch of liquid. It's painless and
kind of fun, if you ask them a bunch of questions.
