Question:Two days ago I woke up with such severe chest pain that you felt like
it was a heart attack. I woke up because my dog was telling me it was time
to take him out
(snoring husband and sleeping child) so as I went to turn over it hit me
like a rock had just crashed into my chest. Suffice it to say I barely
had the strenght to let him out let alone climb the 4 stairs back up to
my house. I took 3xstrenght 500mg. generic tylenol and went back to bed.
Woke up 3hrs. later pain even worse, left arm numb, barely can move.
Decided to stay in bed so I took 2eyedroppers of Valerian Root (which
usually puts me to sleep)1hr later after being ruidly awaken by my husb.
still unable to move and in the smae great pain. The next day the pain
was a little less but it was still there. This is after a day of rest,
and tons of tylenol, heat and vibrating massage. Tonight the pain is
still present but duller and it just feels real tight. Tightness I get
alot am used to that...but yesterday I haven't felt that pain in over a
year. It was scarry, any ideas? any suggestions? any help?
Answer:I have had chest pain like you describe. I immediately thought it was
related to my heart too. I went through test after test, including a heart
cath. My cardiologist assures me that my heart is fine. So then I saw a
gastroenterologist. I did have a narrowing of my esophagus which was
dilated during an endosocopy. I have accepted the fact that this pain is
from fibromyalgia. I did not have any trouble breathing during the episodes
of chest pain. I hope you are feeling better. I always call my physician
when that chest pain returns, he advises me that these things need to be
checked out.
